What’s new? On February 22, a user of the Blur NFT marketplace under the nickname MachiBigBrother sold token number #5112 from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection for 77,9 ETH (about $128 000). Experts at cybersecurity company PeckShield reported this on Twitter, citing the transaction.

What else is known? Token #5112 is an image of a pink monkey with hare ears. The buyer of NFT is not yet known. In total, MachiBigBrother sold 536 non-fungible tokens from various collections on Blur over the past 24 hours, including 342 Otherdeed, 63 CloneX, 54 Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), 21 Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), 13 Azuki, 12 Moonbirds, 2 PudgyPenguins, and BAYC.

Interestingly, also on February 22, Blur announced the start of the airdrop of 300 million native tokens of the platform, in which the main criteria for the distribution and calculation of rewards will be the activity and loyalty of users.

BAYC is one of the most expensive NFT collections. It consists of 10 000 unique images of monkeys on the Ethereum blockchain as ERC-721 tokens. Yuga Labs’ project governance token is APE, with the asset trading at $5,5285147 as of February 22, down by 6,22% in 24 hours, according to Binance.

BAYC had a “community council” in October 2022. It was made up of seven token holders, a number that will grow over time. The board’s responsibilities include liaising with the community and promoting initiatives.

That same month, the SEC launched an investigation into Yuga Labs. The regulator intends to find out whether NFT and the native coin ApeCoin (APE) fall under the definition of securities.
