What’s new? English Premier League football club Manchester City will release an NFT collection with 3D images of players. There will be four drops of the team’s non-fungible tokens at the end of the season. Manchester City representatives have already signed a partnership agreement with Quidd, an NFT marketplace.
More details about the new tokens. The sales of NFTs will start on May 21 at 13:00 Moscow time. NFTs offerings can be previewed on Quidd. The collection includes 20 3D cards with player images. A pack of three tokens for $2 can also be purchased.
What is Quidd? It is an NFT marketplace that is a subsidiary of the Almeda brand. The marketplace is built on the Wax blockchain. Quidd has already partnered with major companies to issue tokens, among them Disney and HBO.
What happened before? In March, the OKX crypto exchange became an official partner of the Manchester City club. As part of the deal, the parties would cooperate to create exclusive events for users of the cryptocurrency exchange. OKX logos would also be present at the football club’s home stadium. And in May, the exchange struck a multi-year deal with the Formula 1 team, McLaren Racing.
Manchester City is also set to create its own virtual stadium in the metaverse. The project will be developed jointly with Sony.
On May 17, Universal Music Group (UMG) signed an agreement with the LimeWire NFT marketplace. UMG label artists would be able to release their own music and other collectibles in the form of non-fungible tokens.
