What’s new? Fake IDs generated by the OnlyFake service with artificial intelligence successfully pass crypto exchanges’ checks as part of the customer identification procedure (KYC). Journalists from 404 Media managed to pass the KYC procedure of the OKX platform using the passport of a British citizen created in this way. The creator of OnlyFake himself under the nickname John Wick told the publication that such “IDs” are accepted by the exchanges Binance, Kraken, Bybit, HTX, and Coinbase, as well as the online bank Revolut.
What else is known? A single generation on OnlyFake costs $15. Using the service it is possible to create a passport or driver’s license, with random or pre-specified data, in less than a minute using samples from 26 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and some EU countries. Payment is accepted in multiple cryptocurrencies through the Coinbase exchange’s e-commerce service.
However, the OnlyFake website claims that the service does not “manufacture forged documents as it is illegal.” The terms and conditions state that “templates are only for use in movies, TV shows [and] web illustrations.”
Users can specify in advance or leave randomly selected data including name, date of birth, address, expiration date, and signature. Photos can also be uploaded by themselves or selected from a “personal library of drops and not using a neural network.”
404 Media noted that it did not just receive a generated passport scan, but a “picture” of the document on a bedsheet, as if a real person had taken the photo to go through the KYC process.

In the OnlyFake Telegram chat, users note that they successfully bypass verification on the exchanges Kraken, Bybit, Bitget, and HTX, as well as in the payment system PayPal.
OKX said in a comment to Cointelegraph that it is already looking into the 404 Media material. The exchange also rejected accusations or implication that it “condones, accepts, or disregards fraudulent conduct” “The abusive use of AI to conduct fraudulent activity is an evolving and industry-wide challenge which OKX is comprehensively addressing,” the company concluded.
Last May, Binance Chief Security Officer Jimmy Su revealed that scammers were actively using deep fakes to bypass KYC procedures. At that time, he predicted that operators would soon be unable to distinguish real video from fake.
