What’s new? Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said that people continue to “underrate” crypto payments even though they have several advantages over fiat payments. Among these, Buterin attributed greater convenience and the ability “of censorship resistance.” The developer added that the adoption of crypto payments will have a positive impact on the development of international business and facilitate the work of charities.
People continue to underrate how often cryptocurrency payments are superior not even because of censorship resistance but just because they're so much more convenient.Big boost to international business and charity, and sometimes even payments within countries.— vitalik.eth (@VitalikButerin) August 24, 2022
What happened before? Buterin spoke out against possible censorship of the Ethereum protocol. In a poll by blogger Eric Wall, he voted to burn the share of validators if they would block transactions at the protocol level, complying with the US authorities. At the moment, the US government has not implemented such rules, the poll was about a hypothetical situation.
Also, Buterin criticized the attempts of corporations to create their own metaverses. He believes that their actions will lead nowhere, because at the moment even the exact definition of the metaverse is unknown, and it is too early to talk about what people really want from it.
